Luncheon lecture connects community with biomedical researchers

Drug-resistant supergerms was the topic of the season’s first Food for Thought lunch December 11 at Scripps Research in Florida. Noted Scripps Research chemists Arnab Chatterjee, PhD, and Ben Shen, PhD, spoke about innovations on both coasts. Shen discussed how the battle for survival between host and pathogens begins and ends with elements found in nature, and how those elements are being used in his laboratory to search for the next generation of antibiotics and other medicines.
