Scripps Research celebrated the life of John C. Martin, PhD, a revered institute board member and global health leader, during an eponymous lectureship in April. A scientist and visionary businessman who led the development of HIV and hepatitis treatments as CEO of Gilead, Martin was 69. Among the day’s speakers were Scripps Research President and CEO Peter Schultz and board member Lillian Lou, Martin’s life partner and president and program director of The John C. Martin Foundation.
