The Donald E. and Delia B. Baxter Foundation has named Michael Constantinides, PhD, winner of its 2021 Young Investigator Award. An assistant professor in the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, Constantinides is developing novel therapies for neonatal sepsis, a serious blood infection that claims the lives of nearly 400,000 infants each year. Scripps Research faculty members Michael Bollong, PhD, and Stefano Forli, PhD, won the award in 2020.
